Renault 5 Turbo 3E

This is the brand new Renault 5 Turbo, but it isn’t how you remember it, it’s fully electric.

This time it has a 500bhp motor, powering the rear wheels. It is quite fast as it’s 0-60mph time is just 3.5 seconds, the same as a Aston Martin DBR9 from 2005. It’s top speed is only around 120mph. Which personally sounds a bit slow for these stats.

This beauty has two seats, a carbon fibre body for more speed, and a 42kWh battery. The new R5 has three drift modes and the ability to peform donuts. It also has a large rear spoiler and diffuser, flared wheel arches and air intakes. On the dashboard (which I imagine is as adventurous as the car itself) it has widgets that display speed, charge and more.

It may be hard to buy one as they are making limited production and cost around £100,000-150,000. Renault state that with the 40kWh battery, it will have a range of 186 miles, but with the 52kWh battery, it is increased to a staggering 248 miles.

Now some people would argue that this is better than the original by miles, but what do you think, is it better, or worse than the original?
